46.2 million Americans – that’s 15.1 percent of us – now live in abject poverty. We rescued the Too-Bigs, now they are tossing families into the streets and demolishing their foreclosed homes. People are struggling to survive in tent cities right here in the United States of America. World-class tax dodgers are downsizing and outsourcing us, quite literally, to death.  We are considered no more than collateral damage, mere sacrifices upon the Altar of the Almighty Buck.

Millions jobless… homeless… sick… shivering… hungry…. and the sociopaths in charge of this star-spangled neocon/neolib asylum DO. NOT. CARE. In fact, they think it’s FUNNY!

It is impossible to do the ‘bootstraps’ thing when someone keeps stealing your boots!

So we are taking a stand.  We’re hitting them in the ONLY place that they care about: their own wallets. We are moving our money. Some folks on Facebook picked today as a special day to get the ball rolling.

The FBI began using the word ‘epidemic’ to describe mortgage fraud in September of *2004* predicting that it would cause an economic crisis if it were not contained. Greenspan, Bernanke, and Geithner knew exactly where we were headed, but failed to take action. The highrollers were having waaay too much fun sitting at the gambling tables with other people’s money, donchaknow. Until Reality once again reared its ugly head and it became obvious that all of those pretty zeros existed only on paper. The money – trillions of dollars – never actually existed!

When time came to settle up at the window, the modern-day Medici wannabes had to admit that the jig was up. Technically, they were insolvent and screamed for help – by threatening to bring down the entire global economy! – and the entire mess suddenly became a Big Freakin’ Emergency™. So the FED “rev’d up the presses” to pay off their gambling debts. FOREIGN banks and their U.S. subsidiaries received a huge chunk of that $3.3 trillion in TARP funds.

Last week’s historical election was a great accomplishment, but it is only the first step in reclaiming our nation and re-establishing a government which is truly of, by, and for We The People.  Our job is not done.

In the midst of the Great Depression of the 30s, several titans of American industry approached General Smedley Butler in hopes that he would be willing to lead a military overthrow of the U.S. government.  These men – including Prescott Bush – were traitors by every definition of the word, literal and figurative.

Instead of cooperating, General Butler reported the plot to FDR; however, since the cooperation of these rich and powerful men was needed for the passage of the desperately needed New Deal, he struck a deal with them rather than prosecuting: if they dropped all political opposition to his plan, he would not have them charged, and their crimes would be swept under the rug.  It was a politically expedient, understandable, practical decision. However, it also left the avarice-driven criminals running free amongst us. Prescott Bush was elected to the U.S. Senate, and here we are.

Richard Nixon did not get away with his “if the President does it, it’s not illegal” modus operandi, but he was pardoned, the full truth will never be known, and far too many guilty parties were never held accountable. They were left free to become operatives in future administrations, and here we are.

While the much-loved, charming and well-meaning (but ill-equipped) Ronald Reagan smiled for the cameras, a shadow government wheeled and dealed, arranged for the overthrow of duly democratically elected leaders of other countries when they refused to play ball with ours, and even equipped and funded TERRORISTS in South America and the Middle East. Most were pardoned, left free to rise to positions of power again, and here we are.

Our colleagues at The BRAD BLOG have recently blogged about a CBS Evening News report on illegal voter purges going on in at least 19 states, including key battleground states. Scores of thousands of voters have been purged from the rolls.

As explained by CBS News, these secret voter purges are illegal. A report by the non-partisan Brennan Center for Justice explains that under the National Voter Registration Act, it’s illegal to conduct systematic voter purges within 90 days of a federal election.

First, some words of wisdom from Abraham Lincoln, on January 11, 1837 ~ “It is an old maxim and a very sound one, that he that dances should always pay the fiddler. Now, sir, in the present case, if any gentlemen, whose money is a burden to them, choose to lead off a dance, I am decidedly opposed to the people’s money being used to pay the fiddler… all this to settle a question in which the people have no interest, and about which they care nothing. These capitalists generally act harmoniously, and in concert, to fleece the people, and now that they have got into a quarrel with themselves, we are called upon to appropriate the people’s money to settle the quarrel.”

And a recent, succinct summation of our current economic conundrum from Common Dreams forum member “matti” ~ “Criminal financial enterprises lent out money they didn’t have, then expected you to work and slave to pay back that “debt” (that they made by magic into an asset – for them) with REAL money. When you couldn’t do it, they had you kicked to the curb. And now, when too many of us have been screwed over in this way for them to pretend that these debts are really assets, they demand that YOUR Government use YOUR Treasury funds to bail them out!”

…Call for Arrest of Bush and Cheney

Right now, five military veterans — from Veterans for Peace — are occupying a 35-foot high ledge at the National Archive Building and have raised a 22×8-foot banner reading, “DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION. ARREST BUSH AND CHENEY: WAR CRIMINALS!” The veterans currently risking arrest have declared their intention to stay on the ledge, fasting for 24 hours “in remembrance of those who have perished and those still suffering from the crimes of the Bush administration,” according to a written statement.

Many reasonable people believe that seeking the impeachment of the Deluded Decider (and his Dastardly Dick) at this late date would be a foolish waste of time; however, I respectfully disagree, for the following reasons:

1. Vincent Bugliosi, John Dean, Elizabeth Holtzman, Dave Lindorff & Barbara Olshansky, and others have fully documented the impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors that have been committed by this avarice-driven misadministration. On June 9, 2008, Dennis Kucinich formally read Thirty-Five Articles of Impeachment into the Congressional Record. The case has been made, as Vincent Bugliosi makes perfectly clear in his book (shown at right). The evidence already gathered is both well documented and incontrovertible.
