In case anyone’s wondering (and many do), it’s the rest of the planet who make theirs backwards! *ROTFL* 

I started making “emoticons” a lonnnng time ago — decades before they even had a name — back on an old ’60s Smith-Corona typewriter. At the time, it only made sense to me that the symbol would be smiling/frowning/whatever back at what had just been said.

After connecting to Crazy Ted’s Intertubes™ in the mid-90s, I noticed that everyone else was facing them the other way; but I stubbornly refused to change what I have always done. Afterall, if I were worried about “fitting in” and being boringly “normal” I’d have to trade my iMac in on a Windoze box! 

“ewww……..” S’not gonna happen in this lifetime. (-:
